Bestica is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in San Diego, California.

Requirements:

• Licensure: CA RN license required (in hand or ETA needed for submittal)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years PICU OR strong CVICU background with float experience
• Previous Charge Experience: Preferred
• Travel Experience: Preferred or experienced float
• Trauma Level I experience: Required
• Certification: BLS, PALS
• Charting System: Epic (required)
• Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred
• Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required

Skills:

• Pediatric CVICU/PICU experience
• IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Blood product administration
• Arterial, central, PICC line management
• TPN/lipids
• Ventilator management, intubation assistance, BiPAP/CPAP
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Tracheostomy care
• Cardiovascular monitoring (CVP, ECMO, Dysrhythmia interpretation)
• Neurologic care (EVD, ICP monitoring, VP shunt)
• Infection control/PPE
• NG tube management, insulin admin
• IV vasopressors, procedural sedation
• Renal/urinary catheter management

Patient Population:

• Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
• Average daily census: 250
• Units/Float: PICU (24 beds, Beacon Award), CTICU (30 beds, cardiac/transplant), NICU (60 beds, Level IV referral)

Unit/Facility Notes:

• High-acuity children's hospital; Magnet recognized, Beacon Award, Level I trauma
• Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 holidays (including eves)
• Scrub color: Any
• Modules (pre-start): Non-billable, up to 10 hours, must be completed before start

Other Requirements:

• Local candidates (within 50 miles): Not accepted
• Must submit compliance docs by Wednesday prior to start
• Can only submit to one job/unit at a time
• Children’s hospital experience preferred (must list pediatric experience if not direct hospital)
• Perm staff must wait 1 year before eligible to trave
