Position Summary The Pharmacist is a registered and licensed healthcare professional who serves as the on-site medical authority at a medical cannabis dispensary. This individual is responsible for providing expert patient care, counseling, and education, while ensuring strict compliance with all state and federal regulations, company policies, and operational standards. The Pharmacist will play a key role in the patient experience, offering guidance on product selection, dosing, and potential drug interactions, and working collaboratively with dispensary staff to ensure a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for all patients. Responsibilities & Duties Patient Care and Counseling: Conduct one-on-one consultations with patients, reviewing their medical history, current medications, and medical conditions to provide personalized guidance. Assess and verify patient identification, certifications, and physician recommendations to ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations. Provide in-depth education on cannabis forms (e.g., flower, concentrates, edibles, tinctures), dosing, drug interactions, and potential side effects. Assist patients in selecting the most appropriate cannabis products to meet their specific needs and treatment goals. (MK1) Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all company requirements related to confidentiality(MK2) Operational and Compliance Management: Ensure strict compliance with all Pennsylvania medical marijuana rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Oversee all dispensing activities, ensuring accurate and safe distribution of medical cannabis products. Operate and maintain proficiency with the point-of-sale (POS) and state-mandated seed-to-sale tracking systems. Assist with other dispensary tasks as needed, including accepting product deliveries, fulfilling orders, and handling patient check-ins. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for both patients and employees. Leadership and Team Collaboration: Serve as the clinical and medical expert for the dispensary team. Assist in training dispensary staff on product knowledge, patient interactions, and compliance protocols. Work in partnership with the General Manager to promote a positive and patient-focused culture. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to implement and maintain company policies and procedures. Champion a safety culture where employees follow safety guidelines and regulations Behave in a manner that is positive, productive, cooperative, and encourages teamwork Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). Licensure: Active and unrestricted Pharmacist or Medical license issued by the State Board of Pharmacy or State Board of Medicine in good standing with the state of Pennsylvania. Experience: 2-4 years of retail pharmacy experience is preferred, with a strong background in patient counseling and medication management.(MK4) Required Training: Must complete the Pennsylvania Department of Health's required 4-hour medical marijuana training course for healthcare professionals before reviewing certifications and consulting with patients. Knowledge & Skills: Deep understanding of the endocannabinoid system, cannabinoids, terpenes, and their therapeutic applications. Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and potential side effects. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. Proficiency with computers and other related software, (e.g., MJ Freeway).(MK5) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A passion for the medical cannabis industry and a commitment to staying up-to-date with new research and regulations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently. Must be able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
